January spinning

Last fall I went in to my wool stash and made a DIY fiber club for myself! Here's January's selection-Corriedale and silk on my tulipwood Swan spindle.
I'm knitting a scarf/cowl out of some handspun BFL-maybe I can get it done before the cold weather is over. Not knitting very fast lately!

Spindle spinning

While my wheel hasn't been totally neglected, most of my spinning has been on a spindle lately. Maybe I should say spindles because I've been spreading the spinning time around thinly these days. Not very efficient, I know! This is one that I made with a bamboo skewer and a square thingy from Hobby Lobby. It's working pretty well on this Romney/mohair blend.
I also pulled out an old friend from my early spinning days-this spindle was made by Linda Diak
maybe 8 yrs ago-for a spindle swap our internet group hosted. I have Tunis/mohair on it.
There are other spindles that I'm using as well, but I'll save them for another time :~)

Getting ready for school

We're getting ready to start Rome to Reformation(My Father's World) and I've been re-working the school schedule from last year and thinking about what things we can do to make busier school days a little smoother. Firming up our "before bed" routines will help! Those slid during the summer...
I really like the Scripture Memory System laid out here. Now this should definitely help with our review! I think some of the Psalms have fallen through the cracks...
On the fiber front...I've been spindle spinning more than wheel spinning lately! The bubinga Bossie and some combed Corriedale come on my morning walks now and when I have a few minutes here and there, I pick up my tulipwood Swan.
I'm nearly done with the ribbed cable square for the sampler afghan-hope to be done with it later tonight. Then just two more before the sewing up!
